    • Snowball Catch –  Changing it to work with eggs/pompons
Write numbers in the bottom of each section of an empty egg carton.
Have each child put 1 snowball (cotton ball) in the egg carton. Close
the cover and shake it. Then open it up and see which number it landed
in. Then ask child to count out that many snowballs.

Easter Advent:

This is one of my family’s favorite traditions. It’s a countdown to Easter with activities for each day of Holy Week.

Here’s my original post for last year (that was perfect for my 3 year-old). It’s a more detailed post than this one will be, so it might be great to check it out first to get the idea.

This year I’m working to adjust our plans to fit both my 2 year-old and 4 year-old. Here’s what we’re planning to do!

  • Print the free printables here.
  • Put them in Easter eggs labeled 1-8 and choose one for each day leading up to Easter.
  • We’re also going to use this sightword emergent reader book on the specific days of Holy Week that is lists (Sunday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
  • We also watched this video to teach us The Easter Story.
  • Finally, we’ve been doing our own version of this Lent family devotional, so we’ll do those readings on the last days of Holy Week as well.
  • Here’s a list of what we’ll do:
    • Day 2 – Monday
    • Day 3 – Tuesday
      • Get Well Cards – Make cards for those we know who are sick (or maybe for a local nursing home.)
      • “A Little Girl and a Poor Frail Lady” in JSB (pg. 214-221)
    • Day 4 – Wednesday
      • Act of Service – Egging!
      • Mark 10:45 – “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
    • Day 5 – Maundy Thursday
      • Foot washing ceremony with our family
      • “The Servant King” in the JSB (pg. 286-293)
      • Thursday page in our emergent reader book.
    • Day 6 – Good Friday
      • Colors of Christ Egg Coloring or use this book to dye eggs and talk about colors of the Easter/Resurrection Story
      • Friday page in our emergent reader book.
      • Also do our Lent Family Devotional reading. (or pg. 302-309 in JSB)
    • Day 7 – Saturday
      • Resurrection Rolls with our community (pg. 302-317 in JSB)
      • Saturday page in our emergent reader book.
    • Day 8 – Easter Sunday
      • Resurrection Eggs
      • Sunday page in our emergent reader book.
      • Also do our Lent Family Devotional reading. (or pg. 310-317 in JSB)
